Pre charge resistor burned
 
48 volt cc 4 batt. Noticed the pre charged resistor melted until I unhooked battery.any ideas? Also there is a red wire lead from battery 1 and blue wire lead from batt 4 where do these wires go?thanks

Solenoid failure is often a cause of this.

When the solenoid fails to energize, the controller will attempt to power the motor through the pre-charge resistor. Likely this is what happened. Either the solenoid failed when asked to energize OR the solenoid activation circuit failed.

So 2 possibilities, solenoid failure or solenoid activation failure
