2006 g22
Guys,
Hello! I am new to this forum, but I need some advice. I am looking at buying a 2006 Yamaha G22. It was owned by an elderly lady that has never had it on the golf course. All she did was ride it 3-4 times a year around the neighborhood. I am getting this cart for $2575, which I think is an excellent price. Can you guys tell me what all to look for before purchase? Thanks in advance! Jamie |
Re: 2006 g22
The price might be a little high. But the G22 was a really good cart, best suspension, ride, and steering. Check for axle noises, odd tire wear on front, battery age & condition (5 years old is done). Batteries typically have date codes stamped into negative terminal (Example- A3 would be Jan, 2013). If batteries are old, use cost of batteries to negotiate lower price.

I forgot to mention that it's a gas cart. My apologies

Can someone tell me the difference in a G22AC and a G22AD?

Re: 2006 g22
:oops:Oops! I know better. G22a is my favorite Yamaha gas cart. The best. Check clutches for wear, dishing on sheaves, belt that is not riding at the top of the rear pulley. AD should be one year newer than AC, does not necessarily mean there were any significant changes.

Re: 2006 g22
The G22A is a relatively bulletproof cart, and the 357 is IMHO the best of all the single-cylinder Golf Cart motors out there. I agree that the primary wear items are going to be the clutches, and unfortunately it's likely to be worse with a privately-owned cart vs a retired fleet vehicle, because the Yami clutches require regular lubrication and that often gets neglected or overlooked by Private Parties.
Check for any noises coming out of the clutches (especially the front) - put it in neutral and watch the clutches and belt as You rev up the engine, as CG said, watch for smooth shifting as the front clutch opens and closes, same with the rear. Worse case scenario, Don Plowman (plowmanscarts.com) can set You up with what You need to not only get the clutches back into 100% order, but can also assist in getting You a whole new level of performance out of that cart at what really is comparatively low cost to other cart brands. |

Re: 2006 g22
G22-a, my favorite car also. On 2006 and earlier Yamaha's I want to listen for any "growling" or "vibration in the seat of the pants" when driving (or in nuetral), witch would indicate secondary clutch problem.
