Newbie. Considering buying a 1995 medalist (edited originally thought it was a marathon, but now fairly certain its a medalist). 36 volt, says batteries are good but no charger. Not running, says it clicks (solenoid? ) lifted with bigger tires and wheels. I want to have a cart for the . how big a project is this? Not very familiar with this model. What type of motor is it? Can I just get an upgraded controller solenoid switch and batteries? Do I need to do it all at once? Go to 48? What should I look for? How much is too much? Attachment 134117

Sorry, I cut part of my post. I want to use it around neighborhood and for hunting moderate terrain.

I'd definitely check the frame for rust. I didn't realize that the one I bought had a all but rusted through frame until I took the rocker covers off.

Looks likes a series cart

Yes.....but batteries with no charger are probably dead if they aren't being charged every day.

Batteries -$800
Charger - $280
Controller and solenoid - $550
New cables and HD FNR - $400

This is a reasonable estimate for what you will spend, and this includes NO appearance upgrades

Looks very similar to my series TXT

Forgot....I wouldn't give over about $1200......looks like a $700-$800 cart to me with questionable batteries.

Thanks, thats about what I was thinking. I'm thinking if I can get it for 500, I could have the cart I'd like for about 2500 total. Thats about 1-2k cheaper than I can find on CL, and half the time those carts don't have the upgraded controller etc, I'd know exactly what was in it. Am I off base?

270Handiman 04-13-2016 06:48 PM

No, I'd say that's close. I paid more for mine, so I'm in worse shape than you would be. He got me with the 'good batteries' line.

Most of the flip carts on CL are stock carts with wheels, tires, lift kits, seat covers, etc. All show and no go. Sometimes you get new batteries, but that's about it.

Looks just like my 96 Medalist Series Cart. I paid $200 for mine in January. It came with a charger and is still running on the batteries that came with it. If those are decent wheels and tires then $500 would be a good deal IMO.

Forgot to Mention Probably has the 2 HP fleet speed motor in it. Look for rust on frame and battery box. Others can probably help more with the no go situation. 270Handiman is pretty close on the "initial investment" lol.
