Milling a G-1 Head
 

Looking to bump the compression a touch on the old G-1. Has anyone ever decked the head, and if so how far did you go, and were you successful in getting more compression?

Was a long time ago but think you can do .030 and then it gets into the chamber and you don't want that. You have to keep the squish band. If you want more you have to cut the cylinder down. Anything helps the comp ratio is 6:1 iirc. If you raise the exhaust port you need to raise the compression to keep the same compression running more or less. I raised it slightly maybe 1mm at most. I advanced the timing far as I could made it a little sluggish in reverse. It was a fast cart compared to stock, it was stock otherwise with 18 stock tires. It would do over 30mph. May have done some other minor things I was always messing with it, but forget what.
