2011 Yamaha G29 Gas

I have a 2011 Yamaha carbureted gas cart I purchase used from JBC Carts in Farwell, Mi. Be advised to stay away from this guy!!

Anyway the Plowmans kit took me from 10 mph to 26 mph which is what I need to commute on the trails in the Villages FL. I'm happy with the kit.

The only problem I am having with this cart is that I am pulling oil over in the pulse line for the fuel pump. I have changed the oil to Mobil 1 Synthetic 10w30 and made sure I only have 1 qt of oil in the crankcase. Unfortunately I need to blow this line out every time I take the cart out for transportation or to go golfing at the Villages in Florida.

At this point other than rerouting the line I am out of options.
I would like an oil separator like I had on my race car but need to maintain the pressure pulse for the pump to operate.

has anyone used an electric pump on a G29 carb cart with a low pump pressure like 2 psi? I have used these on my British sports cars.

Thanks in advance

Re: 2011 Yamaha G29 Gas

I got mine from JBC last summer and didn't have any issues. I did go on a Saturday and he was busy. I did happen to get there right after a shipment of 2011 drives came in and we had pick of the litter... drove several and picked one that I thought was the best...

he did cut me a deal on the accessories I purchased, windshield, rear seats, light kit from mad jax but I did have cash in hand to use for leverage and I installed all these accessories.

he was the only one in that area of MI had any selection of carts and the prices were reasonable. there were some other cart places that I thought were charging obscene prices for "off the course" used carts and even more out of the norm prices for used carts with a paint job and lift kits...

JBC had a brand new drive with lights, lift kit, tires/rims, back seat, windshield for less that other places were selling almost 10 year old used carts with similar features. but the wife talked me out of that one and just got used one.

good luck with your cart, the guys here should be able to help you resolve your issue..

Thanks for getting back to me.
Is your cart still in Michigan?
What is your top speed?
Carts in The Villages Florida need to go at least 20mph or you get passed by 90 year little old ladies.
Top Speed on mine is now good (26 mph) but the fuel pump pulse line getting blocked with oil is a problem. It doesn't pump fuel when that happens.

My in laws have a 2012.5 with full plowmans kit with governor eliminated. The little copper mesh screen on the fuel pump will leak oil from that screen. The oil is comming from the hose that connects to the top of the engine under the air filter box. The only time it leaks is when the cart is ran wide open for long periods of time when rpms at a maximum. In guessing it's just the high rpms causing the issue of pressure blowing the oil. I just wrap it from time to time with a paper towel with a zip tie around it to keep it from leaking. Haven't had any performance issues like you with it starving for fuel. Same as you it runs Mobil 10w30 exactly one quart. I change the oil every 6 months and the oil is never low on the dip stick marks. I would suggest calling don and see what he says.

Btw that cart had 20" all terrain tired and top speed is 30-31 mph. Valves need o be adjusted which I haven't had the time to do. Might get a mph or two faster

mine is used at a campground in MI. its stock so with a governor adjustment it goes 14mph with the stock wheels. if you want to go faster than stock you have to do modifications to the clutch or put larger tires to which it's suggested you also do clutch mods...

the experts here should be able to help you with narrowing down the root cause with your fuel issue

Re: 2011 Yamaha G29 Gas

I have talked to Don Plowman about the oil blockage in the fuel pump pulse line and he had indicated that the oil level was above 1 qt.
I did change to 1qt of Mobil 1 10w30 and made sure that only 1 qt was in the crankcase.
I'm going to try routing the hose up high so the oil drains back to the crankcase.
Oil collects when the cart sits overnight and puddles in the line.

If you have a lifted cart the engine is not setting level anymore. When you drain the oil there will still be oil trapped in the crankcase. To remove all of the old oil you have two options, use suction to remove it, or jack up the cart or back it up on some ramps to get the engine level. This way when you add one quart of oil, that is all that will be in the crankcase. After doing this make a new mark on the dipstick to indicate the new normal oil level with the cart back on the ground again. Good Luck.
