I have a 06 precedent need help...It was running fine till i washed wnder the seat .I thought i might have gotten water in it so i took out all the gas replaced with new..took the carb off and cleaned it..took the plug out replace it..it will fire and is gettin gas but wont run..anybody know anything to try?

Sounds like you might overdone the "spritzing" under the seat stoney. If your seals weren't tight I'd hazard a guess that you have washed out a micro switch. A good soak with WD40 around that area might help but since your post is a bit vague it's difficult to help. Is the engine turning at all ? All information is well recieved but like a dentist hearing; "MY tooth hurts", It's kind of tough to pinpoint the problem if you can't identify which jaw is giving you gyp. I give my motor a wash once a week but only with a light spray. I keep the blasting power for the bodywork and suspension areas.

Yes the engine turns fine..It gets gas and is firing..but wont start...would a switch cause this.and what seals and micro switch are you talking about?(at the shiftier?)..Most motors that get gas and fires will run..

Are you SURE it's firing and not just spinning on the starter ? Easily confused by many people. First off, pull the spark plug and ground it, then, put your cart in maintenance mode and crank it over. Have you got a spark ? If not, next thing is to check the micro switches. There are two of them in the black box down by the battery. One is the start switch and the other the kill. If either is bad it will prevent the circuits from completing and will result in a no spark situation. Report back with your findings and we'll get you going :thumbup: I'm betting that water got into somewhere it wasn't supposed to.

Chris this is the 06 precedent..does not have a black box....yes it has good fire..Can hold the plug 1/2 in from a ground..looks like a lighting bolt..and it is getting gas ..the plug will gas when i try to start it..also can chock it with my hand on back of carb and will get gas there...Is there a switch that will keep it from running with it firing and getting gas?

Sorry Stoney, I must have missed the 06 part, my bad :oops:. Re your switch question; No, if you have a spark at the correct time and gas/air is present the engine should fire right up. Sorry to sound a bit vague here but is the engine firing at all or just spinning over ? From what you have described it seems like the engine wash has caused something to go down but with spark and fuel present I can't for the life of me think what else might be causing this so lets get back to the beginning. Cart was running fine before you gave her a bath and then refused to start yes ? No poor running, backfires etc prior to the wash ?

:) the cart is in like new cond.was running.Its crazy.lol..I have another 05 same type..I been trading parts to try find something wrong.would the peddle switch be the problem....anyway i traded the
solenoid
changed gas
plug
carb
both micro switches

I'll reiterate my earlier post at the risk of being villified. You have spark, you have gas. Those are the fundamental requirements for an engine to run. Now; timing. The spark has to happen at the right time. The piston should be at tdc and the valves closed. You do have compression don't you ?

Yes the internal parts are fine..I pulled the valve cover off to make sure they were working..the cart is like new condition...It is firing for sure...and will not run even after giving it a shot of starter fluid..I guess ill have to take it to shop..:?

I wouldn't use starter fluid if I were you but since you have tried it and get no fire that would suggest a problem with the ignition source but, you say you have a healthy spark at the plug :? My best thought right now is that the spark is deteriorating while under compression. That could be a bad coil/igniter, RPM limiter or wire and cap issue. Any of those components may have got wet and could be shorting out. Try disconnecting the RPM limiter ground wire first and let's see what that does.
