95 EZ- GO troubleshooting

A friend gave me a 96 TXT serial #957357 textron 27647-go1 Manf. code h0196 This what i know so far it came with only 5 6v.BAtt so my readings are going to be off. At the charger station is 44.1 the test i got off of EX GO runs like this B+-45.7 lead 10 45.9 lead 9 45.9 lead 5 44.1 lead 2 22.5 lead1 .7-.8 THe test showed #s on a 36v system where the lead 2 is13-15 and lead 1 is 0.4-1.6 I Took off both rear wheels the right one turns when you spin the left but when you spin thr right only the right one spins. THe motor humms when you depress the pedal but nothing turns. I really need to get the other batt. but if there are any ideas i am up for any thing. Sorry this is so long. Will keep it short from now on just had to get it all in.

Sorry crosswired, these measurements do not make sence.

Measure one battery at a time............

with meter both leads on the same battery..... one on POS the other on NEG.

Example:
bat 1 = 6.2
bat 2 = 4.1
bat 3 = 5.5
...... and so on..........

No need to disconnect any of the batteries to do this.

That was the first thing i checked , each Batt is in the 8v range. I am quite complexed at the #s my self. I have made several wind turbines and i build my own solar panels, but i have never seen Batt.s do this with out an altanater or some kind of multiplyer.

Something is very wrong. A 6 volt battery cannot read 8.+ volts, but an 8 volt battery can.

How many water filler caps are on each battery?

Re: 95 EZ- GO troubleshooting

There is only 3 caps . The Batt.s are Exide GC110 6v

I'm with you!!!! I have never seen batteries do this either.............

Is it possible the batteries are being charged with a 48volt charger or the 36 volt charger is charging 5 batteries?

And the cart "is" a 96 according to the numbers.

It also has an electronic controller that with too much voltage can easily be zapped and rendered useless.

........ I'm still shaking my head........ I must sleep on this....... meanwhile if anybody has any input, feel free to jump in.

3 cells are a 6 volt battery. You should only be reading around 32-33 volts fully charged with 5 batteries unless your trying to charge these batteries with a 48 volt charger while your taking your readings. Either way something is seriously messed up.

Post a pic of the charger.

Re: 95 EZ- GO troubleshooting

The trouble was with the voltmeter. A bad battery in the meter will cause faulty readings. Be sure to check your meter batt. it saves a lot of confusion. I am getting 29.4v at the charger and at B+ . Will have to get another batt. to finish all the test.

I hate when that happens!
