87 ez-go faster? how?

i just got an 87 ez go, gas, i would like to make it faster, most of the stuff i'm finding is for 90 and up, it makes some chattering noise in the clutch that bolts to rearend ( the bolt fell out the other day and clutch fell off, put back on though) i was thinking of getting a new one, but didnt want to spend money on oem part if there is a better one, and the belt looks worn, i seen the thread about shorter belt, would this help also, if so what part # and where do i get it. thanks for help.........ps. governer disabled

Decent clutches are VERY important. After you have that working right ditch the govenor and be conscious of how fast its running.

I wouldn't recommend taking the clutch apart first. They are very simple and you may be able to fit it. Is the plastic cover still on the front?

there had been a rattlin noise coming from the cart, after doin my homework and playing with cart i found out it was the clutch that bolts to rearend, was bad, it fell off, and broke dust cover, bolt came off, i put back on and put bolt back in, it still runs but theres a lot of "play" in it. so i just ordered a new clutch and belt from Tom, said it will be here in a few days.thought about getting bigger motor, but cant keep reverse so i'm sticking with what i got, new clutch should make an improvement ( i hope) will post pics of old clutchto show what to look for in bad clutch

the rivets are worn in this pic, the disk chatters because of this

You should see a HUGE gain in performance with the new stuff. I don't think I've ever seen such worn clutch sheaves.
