Suggestions on what diesel engine is the easiest.

I'm wondering what diesel engine would be the easiest to acquire (most availability) but yet will perform well . I'm sure I want at least a twin cylinder if not a 3 cylinder? Any suggestions/input? Bear with me , posting and finding my posts has been a challenge because I'm new to the site.
