G29 Gradually Losing Power Up Hill Over Time

2016 Yamaha g29 having issues where it almost comes to a near dead stop going up hills. It didnt do this before or for a while after the lithium conversion but is doing it more and more now.

Stock Moric controller, stock hitachi motor
6" lift and 23x10-14 Tires
Lithium conversion using Dakota Lithium 12V x 4 60 Ah DL+ batteries
Roykaw Golf Cart Voltage Reducer Regulator
Renogy 500A Battery Monitor with Shunt

I have replaced the motor speed sensor and solenoid with no improvement or change in behavior.

Since I have the battery monitor I can see real time current draw and it has always gone up to a max of 140amps when under heavy load, which it is still doing but the cart is loosing power to the wheels

Does this sound like a motor going bad? needing new brushes?

Does this sounds like a controller issue?

I have kind of just preemptively changed the inexpensive things but not sure how to trouble shoot if it is the controller or motor that needs service or replacement.

Thank you.

Hitachi motor probably going bad - needing brushes. Do it before it stops running completely and maybe takes out the controller.

I agree with Volt Amp sounds like brushes. If you order new brushes off amazon make sure you get the right set, best to pull the motor and check the size of the brushes before ordering I just went through this with a friends cart first set he ordered was listed for G29 but was not the correct size. Also while you have the motor apart use an air compressor to blow out all of the carbon buildup, and inspect your commutator and armature.

Thank you, I am getting ready to give this a shot. I saw a comment on a youtube video doing the brush replacement about replacing the commutator bearing while doing this, but I cant seems to find what that part number would be for the DM430-06A motor. Any ideas? also do think that is needed?

Did the motor service today and the brushes definitely needed to be replaced. Notice a significant improvement in the up hill power. Will attach a comparison picture of the brushes before and after. Went for a test ride with 4 adults and it was doing well for the whole hilly ride. Right when I got back to my house, while hitting the small bump for my driveway apron I lost power to the wheels. 12v system and 48v monitor stayed on but pedal to floor and nothing. Toggled the run / tow switch to tow and back to run and its working normally.

What are conditions which toggling the run / tow switch resets?
