2007 Precedent

Hi Guys
Help would be greatly appreciated. Recently when I depress gas pedal there seems to be a long lag ,approx. 4-5 seconds apprx before starter engages.Seems worse when its cold or sitting. Also I turned it up and numerous times it backfired throo exhaust, think the guts are blown inside muffler[theres some rattling] and it seems to run about a 1mph slower now,and runs hot sometimes. You can feel it on seat bottom.Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.:help:

Start by tightening the starter belt. ( the small one ) that should fix your starting problem. The cart will backfire sometimes if you get off the gas pedal to fast when going full throttle. try to slowly release the pedal when coming to a stop or slowing down. Slower running not sure pos torque belt worn? If its running hot make sure the engine is clean of dirt. These engines are air cooled and anything blocking air from moving through the engines cooling fins is not good. The muffler can cause the overheating issue as well. hope this helps.
