RXV Unique Ignition Switch Install Question
Didn't like the idea that anyone with an EZGO RXV key could walk up and drive away in my cart, so I purchased a factory unique ignition switch. Seems to be plug-and-play, but should I disconnect the batteries prior to swapping out the switches?

Is the space pope reptilian?
Yes. Any time you are messing with wires you should always disconnect your battery. It may not kill you but you will feel 48v. |
Re: RXV Unique Ignition Switch Install Question
Keep in mind that the key switch gets its power from the controller which draws from the small always on leads on the battery not the big fat one where the positive supplies the main solenoid

Re: RXV Unique Ignition Switch Install Question
Hi RXV tech here.
1) Switch is plug and play. 2) no need to dis-connect battery for RXV switch replacement. 3) do remove keys from both switches while doing swap out. Little help with install.. 1) remove 4 #27 torex screws from under dash. 2) gently pull dash forward and you can reach rear of keyswitch. 3) compress tangs and push keyswitch through front of dash... do not disconnect wires yet.. let switch hang by wires.... 4) snap dash in place and replace #27 torex screws. 5) dis-connect keyswitch and connect new keyswitch. 6) test new switch.. forward/reverse 7) press new keyswitch into place. |
