Re: Backfire
Maybe check the timing...:?

Re: Backfire
Valve adjustments and then timing?
|
Re: Backfire
Is there a easy way to ck timing?
|
Re: Backfire
the only way to check your timing is to pull the timing belt cover and lineup the marks.
|
Re: Backfire
If the marks r right could it b 180% off?
|
Re: Backfire
I have heard they will run if they are off as much a 3 teeth.... Pull the valve cover and do that valve adjustment. If the timing is way off the valves won't be near closed at TDC.

Re: Backfire
And/or clean the carburetor.

Re: Backfire
TCS you do not have to pull the cover... It will run a tooth off.. Do like Scotty says, and check the valves. If they are closed at TDC then the timing is close enough. If you are way off the valves will show it under TDC.... The carb. should not be causing a backfire in your situation. When you put it back together did you make sure the timing marks were lined up on the cam and crank properly? If you can't remember then you should start there.
