basic battery question
 

Just got a used 94, its got a squarish body so that is a Medalist? Anyways put a voltmeter to the batteries, and 5 out of 6 show only 5v, the 6th one shows 5.99. Charged one up for a few hours and got it up to 5.55, now working on others. Cart moves kind of slow on any kind of incline. I should have brought the voltmenter when buying the darn thing. Sounds like I have to buy 6 batteries to recover incline torque?

They are severely discharged to begin with. So why not give all of them a good charge before irreversable damage occurs and see how she goes up hill then!

After I got home I did charge the cart using the cart charger for 24 hours before running the cart. When I was buying the cart the seller's area was very flat, so there were no inclines to test on. So after a 24 hour charge, and all the batteries had water, then I ran it and found it has no incline speed. That's when the voltmeter came out and I noticed the 5x 5v. After that was when I started trying to charge the batteries individually with a battery charger.

But my voltmeter has a broken led so 6 might display as a 5. Have to double check my readings tomorrow.

Square body is a marathon. A medalist is a metal bodied TXT.

A "6" wouldn't have a top bar on a seven segment display, so it was probably a "5". :thumbdown:

What is the voltage of the total battery pack? (A "3" doesn't use the lower left segment :mrgreen:)

If you cannot get the batteries up to something like 70% or higher, it probably won't do inclines .

About my free voltmeter, the lower left post is out, so suspected that the 5 I been seeing may be a 6, so I set it to 200 and sure enough, every battery came back as a 6, sorry... :oops:

But the cart just goes slow on inclines, I probably shouldnt say torque, Its not about the weight its carryng dont know why... have an old Yam that does the same thing, is that just part of grabbing old carts? Yam batteries are new, all 6, and this new Marathon seems to have (6x) 6v to start.

A battery that reads 6v on the meter is only at 45% charged

Can someone explain to me why my TXT doesnt dog it up the inclines on my place but the old 91 YAM and 94 Ez Go practically slow to a crawl? I'm not asking for blazing speed, but time is money.
