carb jetting

OK i seen alot of talk about jetting the carb but no discussion on where to et the jet? do i need a new gasket set? drill bit size?
and i know i can then get a k&n air filter and if in not mistaken i take the hose from the original airbox and just lay it aside??
If i jet the carb do i need to readjust the setting on it or is factory setting good

I know alot of questions but i wanna get a little more pep in my step and im sure that will help especially since i just lifted it and put bigger tires on it

Re: carb jetting

You will only need to change 1 jet. Remove the bowl from the carb and the
main jet is the one facing forward (number 17 on diagram). You can open the
jet diameter or purchase a new jet. When I did this I bought a couple new
ones and tried different sizes. .048 - .052 inside diameter is the range that
should work the best. OR, buy one ready to go...Check the jet link.

The hose coming from the valve cover is a vent, you can run it down and
point it at the ground using a zip tie to hold it. You may have a drip of oil
coming out of it from time to time.

Re: carb jetting

just buy mikuni carb jets from your local motorcycle shop. only $2 each. I run a 132 when I have the stock muffler on my cart, 152 when i have the dirt bike exhaust

Shawn is your motor stock with exception of the air cleaner, and what dirt bike exhaust do you run?

Re: carb jetting

modifed air filter box, welded on a kx250 2 stroke muffler on it. i have a extra head that I ported that I am going to try out eventually, really need to get the head cut before I put it on. I did but a timing advance key but misplaced it.
