How to improve power from Robins 295 engine
3 Attachment(s)
About to embark on huge restoration project, involving engine and gearbox rebuild. And generally making the cart look nicer. Have 20 inch wheels, new walnut dashboard, GPS speedo (finally found a nice one), new steering wheel, 5 piece mirror and smart seat covers on order.
I am not replacing the engine as the single cylinder will probably be too noisy for family use. Just want to know if there is anything else I can do to make this thing more powerful? This will be my main family vehicle so I don't mind spending $$ on it, but don't want it more noisy. Even 10% more power would make a difference. Thanks for all the forum help so far and I think this is just about the last piece of info I need before starting the cart renovation. |
Re: How to improve power from Robins 295 engine
rather than rebuild the engine for 600 you could get a ct rebuilt engine and up you displacement to 375cc , just a quality rebuild and more power , also clock your driven clutch up up to position 3 and you should have 10-20 percent more power and torque

First thing I would do is check the valve clearance. Those little motors do fairly well when everything is right.

Re: How to improve power from Robins 295 engine
Thanks guys. Please can you tell me more about CT Rebuilt 375 Engine? Is this a modified 295? Can I get a kit to upgrade this? Where can I get one? What exactly is this? Sorry if basic question!

Re: How to improve power from Robins 295 engine
OK I found CenterBuilds 375 engine on eBay. A 375cc engine. 350cc - presumably with a re-bore? I have emailed them to ask if they will make one up and ship to Hong Kong. Many thanks.

Re: How to improve power from Robins 295 engine
Just one question. Is the CT rebuild going to be better than just buying a rebuilt standard 350 engine? I think the CT is a 295 with a 350 piston set and bored out with oversized rings... right? Wouldn't this treatment be just as good on a 350 engine?
How is the CT 13 HP versus the standard 11 HP from a 350. Thanks for helping me to understand all this. |
Re: How to improve power from Robins 295 engine
If it is what I think it is.. It is a 350 with a 295 head and some tweeking.. Thinking around 18 hp when done.. Is the place you are looking at in Appling GA ?

Re: How to improve power from Robins 295 engine
Hi kgsc - I found this on eBay after the first reply. It's billed as a 13HP EZGO 375 Pre MCI engine. They need a 295 in return and I think it's a 295 engine bored out with 350 Pistons, but not 100% sure. Have only exchanged an email and haven't yet got their phone number.
HOWEVER...I think the sound of an 18HP HP engine based on a Robin 350. Any more clues on who might do these? Many thanks! |
