timing belt

are 4 stroke ez-go engines interferance engines? (will they shell ouy if the timing belt jumps a tooth or breaks) And how often should they be replaced? looks like a real pain to swap out!

Yes they are an interference engine, the belts hold up good and they are easy to change the clutch has to come off thats the toughest part!!!!!

Whats a good rule of thumb to know if you need to replace your timing belt ? Measure the slack ?

Timing belts are usually not a part that needs to be replaced, unless there is a problem. In my 10 years as a dealership I have never had a broken timing belt in for service, BUT have heard of it happening...

Hello,

Even we with our 8500 and more revs don't ever change the belt.
Only when it got oil on it for a longer time and when the engine was stuck because of broken pistons, cranc etc.
The only thing than happens is loosing teeth.....
