New to me 2003 Club Car Questions...

Hey guys, just looking for some information on my cart. I recently purchased a used 03 Club Car. I've had a 06 EZGO in the past, this is my first Club Car. It's a 48v, and has the button switch for F/R, not the lever. Anyone know what model this is? The battery life is pretty short, could low water level be the cause of this? How can I tell what year these batteries are? Also, the previous owner has mounted LEDs above the headlights and the headlights don't turn on when you pull the switch, just the LEDs, side markers, and tail lights turn on. Is this a cause of concern? I think I would rather have the headlights work and mount the LEDs somewhere else and have a separate switch for them. I appreciate any help you can give me.

Here are a couple pics so you can see the lights. Also, I just went out to fill batteries. They were very low. I had my wife pick up two gallons of distilled water earlier thinking that would be enough, but I on,y got three batteries topped off with that. Gotta go back and get more water. Also, one more question...the previous owner told me it has an upgraded controller. What the heck does that mean? Sorry for all the noob questions.

I'd bet the previous owner pulled the wires going to the headlights and hooked them up to the LED's. You only need enough water to get about 1/4" over the top of the plates and that low of water ain't good.
Other members here can help you figure out what controller you have.

It's a Club Car DS. No clue about the lights......probably a wiring issue. I just bought a new set of US batteries this week.......after much research I discovered i was under charging my previous set the last 4 years........water should be 1/4" above the cells, and you need a charger that you can set to US Battery specs......... They require a higher initial charge. I went with a DPI charger.

What "upgraded" controller is in it? What's your current top speed?

What is the serial # of the cart? Its located on a sticker under the dash ledge above the foot throttle. It starts with an "A".

What ever you do. Put cart in TOW before working on anything.

AQ0340-334146 is the serial number.

The only thing I've done is water the batteries. I didn't put in tow for that. Should I have?

I always do. You never know what you may touch or drop.

You have one of the best versions of the DS with the IQ control system. The controller is the box mounted under the access panel behind the seat backrest below the sweater basket. Get all the batteries filled with distilled water and check each battery's voltage individually and report back with the numbers.
