What is flywheel machining.
New guy with lots of questions so I'll start slow. Please type slow as I'm a slow reader!!!! I'm looking for a torque increase for my '00 CC Gas engine cart and have been reading up on it. One of the suggested tips is having the flywheel machined. What does this accomplish? More accurately, what do they do to it and how does it increase the torque? I've searched this but keep getting the threads that say "do it". TIA.:dontknow:

DoH!! Wrong terminology, I guess I meant to ask about clutch machining. I wouldn't lighten a flywheel having seen the negative results of that firsthand!

\./ at the bottom of the vee they machine a little material off the hub so the sides of the pulley close up closer. \/

Re: What is flywheel machining.
If you have already put in the heavier duty spring, does this just help with not letting the belt come down?
Side question: I keep hearing about using a shorter belt also. Wouldn't this be counter-productive? It seems like it would force the belt down sooner |
Re: What is flywheel machining.
femurphy77--Machining the clutches is a good way to pick up some more torque. Check the sponsors list but I recall it may be Carts Plus. If you call them ask for Tom & he will explain the process. I haven't done one but know a guy who knows a guy, etc. I have heard he knows the info & likes to help. Good luck:thumbup::thumbup:

Re: What is flywheel machining.
Tom At CPP aka Dixie Sales and service ( Pick a name! Tom:mrgreen:) did this machining for my workhorse. Along with the Torque spring it made a big improvement in the hill climbing ability.... go here ... http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/site-sponsors.php
