bad solenoid?
I have a question relating to a G9 gas Yamaha, just the other day the starter decided to engage all by itself. The key can be turned off at the starter will start to spin without any warning. The solenoid will click but even if the gas pedal is pushed and then released it will not stop. I have disconnected the battery and checked the ground (even added an additional ground) thinking the other might be weak and no change. I am new to golf cart ownership and do not know a lot about them. Even after I am able to disengage the starter (I dont know what helps) it will after minutes start all by itself.....

Re: bad solenoid?
Unplug the small 12V feed wire from the solenoid to be sure but sounds like the soleniod went south on you.

Re: bad solenoid?
Well I have replaced the solenoid as well as the switch at the foot pedal and the problem still exists. Even if the key is off and the 12v lead to the solenoid is connected the carts starter will engage. Does anyone think it might be the ignition switch itself? I am new to owning a golf cart and so far it's not the most trouble free thing I have ever done....can anyone help out a novice?

Re: bad solenoid?
Thanks for the advice, if anything I am getting a lesson in golf cart function and electronics. I will try the voltage regulator and see what happens. Mark

Re: bad solenoid?
:help:Well, again lease keep in mind that I am new to golf cart ownership. I purchased a voltage regulater off of Ebay for my 1991 G9 Yamaha and I cannot find out where the voltage regulater is. I have looked for what I recieved on the cart and it is no where to be found. Can someone tell me where it might be? I am just about to drive it off a cliff.................
