B2090 ezgo ..guidance needed.

To start, I have a lot of experience, not expertise with small engines; from toys, tools, to tractors. However, this is the first golf cart I’ve picked up and worked on. I’ve ridden a couple probably just like it when I was younger.
This ezgo has the robin 2pg engine. I was shocked when I discovered fires in reverse too.
Anyway, my feet are already wet so I might as well jump in.
It’s missing the air box and a few other things but, the flip side is it already has brand new oversized Stryker Tires on the rear.
I’ve already resurfaced the metal contacts of the FnR switched. Cleaned up the comm on the starter.
Disassembled the clutch, cleaned and lubed; it was totally seized but in decent shape actually.
The carb, worst condition I’ve seen but I cleaned it and had it together long enough to fire the engine.. it rips WOT and, I drove it across the yard before it started leaking gas everywhere. Just ordered replacement!

Is there any advice that anyone can give me regarding the engine before I break something. I put 40:1 gas in, not sure if this is the correct mix.
Does anyone have a manual?
And, there is a 2nd aluminum rod off the throttle, it is long and connected to a another bracket with another aluminum rod that connects to a third bracket at the bottom of motor. What the heck is this? Should I remove it? There is also a tube from that area near bottom of motor that is fitted to the intake with a banjo bolt? Should I plug this?

Any advice is appreciated! Thank you

The throttle connection you describe sounds like a 3pg. Is your spark plug on the side, or on top?
Pictures would be great. We have manuals for both engines.

128:1 is the correct mixture for used engines.

That banjo connected to the oil pump. Plug it up.

You should take the carb apart, and see where it's leaking. It sounds like the bowl loosened up. The original carb is better than a Chinese replacement. Most of them don't work.

Sorry I dont know why I thought it was a 2pg. The plate says robin 244cc Ec25-3pg. Motor no. 89-18570

Ah thank you, I understand now that tube going to the intake is oil injection! That will be plugged for sure now.

According to the engine plate it's a 1989, yeah lets see some pics of that bad boy. We like pics in here

Thanks guys! I will try to post some pics soon... I never said she’s pretty though.

I will hold onto the original carb possibly swap some stuff from the new one into it. I dunno, unfortunately while I took it across the yard the float bowl fell off which I found but, I lost the combination bolt/jet from the bottom of the bowl. It was heavily rusted, rounded over and the threads slightly messed up. Unfortunately the threaded hole that it mates with is slightly stripped which is what led to it falling out.

Clutch moves now. Cleaned up the contact surfaces with a wire brush, threw the belt on briefly and it grabs good. Got to drive it across the yard once already!
