size fuel line on a 1974 2 stroke

hello
putting together a 1974 harely Davidson golf cart, and need to know what size fuel line to run from the fuel tank to the tillotson < HL 231B> # 524 carb.
see 2 are offered in parts? a <1/4"> and a 5/16. what size goes on this cart?( its a 3B 18187) H4 serial # L and model D. I read where these tillotson suck fuel? and want to put right size fuel line on it.
