48 Volts on Stock PDS controller?

I have a 2006 PDS 36 Volt EZ GO cart with 23 inch wheels.

The batteries are trashed. I'm going to buy new batteries. I plan on upgrading the controller soon. My question is can I simply put 6- 8volt batteries in place of the 6 -6volt batteries and use the cart until I upgrade the controller?

I know I will need a charger too to go along with the batteries. I was just hoping I could do this until I have enough for a new controller and relay?

Not unless you want to smoke the controller and possibly the batteries. You are better off waiting till you have everything to convert it over.

FYI - An Alltrax 400amp DCX with 48v = Hauling A$$! There are no carts around me that can touch my cart. I thought because it was a PDS that the low end torque would get smoked by a series cart, but that hasn't been the case either.... I'm not saying I have the fastest cart, I know they are out there, just not where I live.
