Vc625 connecting rod

Does anyone know of an upgrade connecting rod and or what other kind of connecting rod would fit in it?

You could call ARC but I’ve not heard of ANY upgrades for the 625 but they will come eventually

I personally wonder if the connecting is waiting for a flywheel also. Those magnet filled flywheels aren't the best thing in the 5000+ rpm range. Nor have the HD valve springs appeared either.

Seems the right thing to do with a high rpm engine is:

1. Cam
2. Rev kit
3. Bigger carb
4. Billet rod
5. Billet flywheel
6. Belt driven alternator

This applies to any of the small engines. Since these engines aren't designed to run high rpm, you have to address all the weak points. I agree Ray, the magnets on the flywheel become shrapnel if it grenades at high rpm. Makes me nervous. Been thinking the same thing for my Vanguard. Since the billet flywheels don't have magnets etc you have to install an alternator. Using an automotive alternator is the solution. That mod is one of the more complicated ones, which is why you don't see many people do it. So the flywheel upgrade idea usually gets sh**canned.

Performance 670 makes a kit for the 670 using a mini denso. They charge quite a bit for it. But as in many other areas they have produced the parts to take that engine a pretty HD high rpm unit.

I should add the mini denso is only a little larger in diameter than drive pulley. The one wire hook up version is also electrically simple.
