1994 Charging Receptacle Problem
Hello EZ-GO guys. Have had a day long nightmare with a rectangle style (not the newer D plug) receptacle and plug from charger.
Installed a new plug into a working 36V charger. Would not click/charge. Tried it on another known working charger. Nothing. Replaced charging receptacle, (twice with used receptacles). Found out would only make contact if I pressed firmly to one side against plug. Are these things this problematic? Should I ditch all of this style and do something different? I have 2 more of these vintage to restore and don't want to go through this again. All responses appreciated! PS. Still nothing working. |

Re: 1994 Charging Receptacle Problem
Probably some wear in the housing. New sb50 connectors are like $6 and you should be able to use original surroundings.

Re: 1994 Charging Receptacle Problem
It is my understanding that there are 2 versions of the SB50 plug, a gray and black version and they will not work with each other.

I just went through this when I did my lithium conversion. I was in a hurry to get my stuff, and the only sb175 on amazon prime was a grey one. I needed it to mate to a red. No dice. There’s 6 or 7 colors and they don’t mix and match. It’s probably a good idea for designation purposes. The black is supposed to be interchangeable with any color. |
Re: 1994 Charging Receptacle Problem
Thanks guys. Guess I will start over and buy both. Really irritating. A 10 minute fix that screwed up a whole day. Now another week waiting for parts. And I have 2 chargers to reassemble. Dang shame, cart runs great and no way to charge it without "rigging" it.
Oh well. Live and learn. Never pictured this being a big issue. Thanks to all of you for the input! |
