Heavy Duty Rearend
 

Does anybody know if EzGo makes a heavy duty rear end assembly that will fit into my 2004 EzGo PDS? I want to get a heavy duty differential assembly ready to be installed that will fit right into my PDS.

I have a custom stretched out 6 seat cart (see below pics). AC converison with 48 volt upgrade. There are 2 batteries in the bagwell. It is street legal with California plates. We drive it all around town. So yes we drive the heck out of it.

I think once I fill the cart up with people there is just too much weight on the rear of the cart. My bearings are spinning in the the race/houseing and making a bad noise. Not sure if a new rear end will fix it so I am thinking a heavy duty rear end....

Check with one of our site sponsors ScottyB, he has a newer style hubs that are pinched so they do not strip out as easy. The only thing you might be able to do is find one from a workhorse golf cart, but I believe they are the same rearend as yours.

The hub is not stripped out. The axle bearing is spinning in the race/houseing. I repalced the bearings and axles on both sides. It is definately the bearings spinning in the race.

a workhorse rear is the same, but it will have diff gearing.

Maybe the axle tube is tweaked alil letting the bearing move around in it.

I have not seen this on any cart. I have seen plenty of axle bearings go bad tho.

That is a possibility.... But it is on both sides. So both side would have to be bent.

It has new axles and new bearings....

I also thought that maybe the guy that stretched it did something wrong and didnt get the rear end mounted straight.

The workhorse rear end... How different is the gearing? Will I have more tope speed or more power? Is it more heavy duty than the stock rerar end that i have?

I decided that I dont want to do the work myself so I took it to my local cart shop. He suggested putting in a rear end assembly off of a Shuttle 6 cart. He can get me a brand new rear end assembly off of a shuttle 6 cart from EzGo and install it for $2k... He said the gearing will be a little lower so I may loose 2 or 3 mph..... He said that rear end is a 2000 pound capactiy rear end. Does that sound like a good decision? Thanks guys.

I have a friend that loads his with people and about 120 ice cold miller lites and has never had a problem. 2K sounds a bit high to me but i guess with shop labor being around 90+ an hour it adds up quick. I guess he did suggest putting a new one in.
