Gas coming out of vent tube,motor acts like it wants to run but will not.

sounds like its flooding itself out................1st crank it over for a few seconds than take sparkplug out and and see if its wet with gas if its real wet with gas i would take carb off and see if something happened with float, the pin holding it in may have worked out causing float to cock to one side or the other or the fuel pump might have went bad......................but i would think you have an issue with the float it might just even be some junk in the bowl not letting float do its job.............................................8)

I'll check the floats again see if anything has gotten in there,everytime I do this,cart will run fine for a little while,then the same process,fuel coming out of vent,and cart does seem to be flooded and will not move,have cleaned jets several times over the past few days,and inspected floats,will go take another look,pushing cart back to trailer getting very embarrasing!!

If you have been into this carb already, the adjustment on the float may have gotten changed. Float adjustment on most carbs is simply a matter of bending the little tab or arm that holds the float. This determines how high the gas needs to be in the bowl before the float closes the gas flow into the bowl. If the arm has gotten bent, the bowl could fill all the way up and the float would not shut off the gas, thus allowing the gas to run out the overflow and also into the intake and flood the motor with gas resulting in a not-start. I do not have the setting for adjusting the float on these carbs. It normaly comes with a rebuild kit. Maybe someone here knows the setting or has the directions from a rebuild kit. Maybe you started out with dirt holding open the valve and now have a bent float arm.

Mine has a plastic float and needle with nothing to bend or adjust. A speck of dirt will not bend anything, very little pressure needed to seat the valve. But the manual does show a proper and wrong way to install the spring on the needle valve. One thing you can try is to make sure the float can float, meaning make sure there is no gas inside it. And also take a q-tip and gently clean the seat where the needle goes in. Check the tip of the needle for nicks or imperfections that could keep it from seating and stopping fuel flow.
One more thing to check is the "2" fuel filters plus make sure the fuel lines are not old and brittle inside, they can release little specs of rubber that can mess with the needle valve too. Replace the fuel lines and filters and clean the carb once more and see if that clears it up.

Going to try new fuel lines today,have the carburetor apart cleaning everything,also going to pull fuel tank,noticed some junk sitting on the bottom.Thanks for the info.

started to pull my fuel tank today to clean and think i found the source of all the junk in the tank,looks like my fuel vent has deteriorated and dropped its remains into the tank,thus upon further investigation the fuel pickup tube had several bits of the pieces of vent tube sucked into it,guess i should have noticed the bits of the same thing in the fuel filter also,not surprised at the buildup of mud and dirt under and around the tank,i'm sure you all know about that!,hope to get it running tomorrow,new carb arrives shortly.

Pulling the fuel tank looks a little involved. Everything else is done. Will check vent tube. Thanks.

At least pull your fuel pickup tube and check it for any obstructions,(if you have noticed anything in the bottom of your fuel tank) i also replaced my old fuel filters and fuel lines with new.
