48 V 100Ah Extreme Team Battery Pack Installed
 

I completed the install of the Extreme Team battery pack. I have only a few miles on the golf cart since the install but at this point I am very pleased and I think it is worth the wait for this battery pack. :lol:

I purchased the exact same one I get it in a few weeks
a few questions

1. what the gold looking thing right next to the pack ?
2. are you not using the packs 48 to 12 volts converter cause it looks like the blue thing in your battery compartment is a 48 to 12 volt reducer
3. did you by pass the OBC or completely remove the OBC ?
4. did you switch out the OEM plug for the 3 prong plug charger

Answers:
1. The gold thing is a shunt for the SOC volt/amp meter.
2. I did not use the use the internal 48 to 12 volt converter. I use my old voltage reduces that is blue. I also ran all the 12 volt accessories through a fuse block.
3. I have a have a 2017 Club Precedent so no issues with the OBC.
4. I did not switch out the OEM plug. I use the charger external just like the original setup. I requested Extreme Team to connect an OEM plug to the charger. This eliminated a bunch of cutting and splicing.

EDITED: In the instructions there is a note that explains how to disconnect the OBC by cutting a couple of wires.

snoop911 A couple more things that might help.

You will receive a thumb drive with instructions and wiring diagram.

I originally connected the battery pack on the drivers side of the cart. Both the original positive and negative wire coming out of the control panel will reach the battery terminals. If you want to mount the battery pack on the passenger side you will need to replace the original wires with longer ones. You will need a Dremel or cut off tool to cut a little square block off the floor. Or you will have to turn the battery with the terminals facing the rear of the cart. That configuration takes up more space.

I later installed to shunt and SOC meter. The location I chose to mount the shunt required me to extend the negative cable coming from the controller to the shunt. I used an old battery cable to run from the shunt to the negative battery terminal. The instructions will explain this in more detail. You will also need some 18 gauge wire and a terminal lug to run from the shunt to the positive battery terminal. Lastly, I had to grind down a screw driver to attach the 18 gauge wire to the shunt. (glasses required) LOL!

I also decided to mount the SOC volt/amp meter in the battery box. But there is plenty of cable to install it on the dash.

You can also down load an APP to read the SOC vial a blue tooth connection. You can read all cell voltages etc, etc.

On the extreme team website the package I purchased shows a little square SOC meter and in your picture it looks like yours is a round SOC did they change out their SOC for another make/model

My meter is round. It is mounted on the front wall in the center of the battery box. I looked on their website and didn't see a SOC meter picture. There is not a SOC/meter incorporated into the battery. I think the older batteries may have had one as part of the battery pack. Also the on/off push button is on top of the battery pack. Lastly the dimensions on the website are a little different too. The width is closer to 12"than 11 1/4".

Another thing that I discovered was that I could not attach the battery strap hold down brackets to the floor of the battery box. The aluminum frame rail was in the way. Therefore, I placed them as close to the bottom on the side walls of the battery box.

They sent the SOC meter, long cable and shunt to me as part of the package.

I would also suggest to add some insulated terminal lug covers to the battery pack terminals.

The original wire terminal lugs will fit on the battery pack terminals. However, you will have to drill them out to fit on the shunt.

I am sorry I keep adding more info to the discussion... BUT it is what it is.
