Re: Yamaha governor bypass
DISCLAIMER: do not run the cart at wide open throttle for long periods of time or engine damage can result...either use your calibrated ear hole to tell when your over revving or buy a $30 tach to monitor your RPM"s...good luck, happy carting....[/QUOTE]
How many R's is to much? What RPMs should you be ble to run all day long with no damage and what do you figure the "wide open for a split second" would be? G16 with factory motor and clutch. |
Re: Yamaha governor bypass
I had a 99 G16, governor completely bypassed, ran mobil 1 synthetic 10w30, and ran the total crap out of it all the time. Never gave me a minutes trouble. But that's me and continually kept the maintenance up on it (regular oil changes). We usually tell people not to over rev the engines for the engines life sake. These are air cooled engines and running them wide open reved as high as they will go, esp in heat, COULD cause engine breakdown (its like any engine, just be mindful and don't abuse it/take care of your cart and it will last for a very very long time).

Re: Yamaha governor bypass
Thanks Ron!
how much faster can we expect the buggy to go by only adjusting the governor nut? I just want to speed it up, but because it's used by many people, still want the safety from over-revving |
Re: Yamaha governor bypass
It would depend on where it is set now. Give it a few turns and test it out.
You should be pleased with the gain. |
Re: Yamaha governor bypass
