Clutch removal tool needed?

I read one of the contributers yesterday and cant find it today. The blog was a way to use a certain size threaded bolt and a shaft instead of buying the 40 dollar clutch tool. Does anyone know about that or where I can find the blog? Good or bad idea?

PM Groundpounder, Small block or Crash. They will know. Also I think there is a tool loan sticky at the top. You might also try prying GENTLY against the case with 2x4s cut to a wedge shape. Use 2 of them or 3, 1 from each side, and GENTLY pry... Did I say GENTLY?
You can break the case this way!!!!!!!!! Tho.

Hi: I can,t tell from previous posts what cart you have, but here is what I found for a G16 clutch . It may answer your question. I also had the same thoughts as you, so researched it as follows.
The bolt you will need is a 14mm dia x 1mm pitch x 2 in. long. This bolt should be at least a grade five, ( I was looking for grade eight). After extensive searching, I could not come up with this bolt "off the shelf" anywhere. A machine shop quoted me $8.85 each plus shipping, with a minimum qty. of 3 pcs.
As for the rod, it can be 7/16 dia x 5.5 inches long and could be cold rolled steel. I would have had to purchase this also but didn't get a price.
After this excercise, I elected to "bite the bullet" and buy the tool, as it was difficult to justify going through this for any savings involved. I would recommend either borrowing one or buying one to do your job. Good luck - Ray

:thumbup:That's a really good price!! Mine was $35.95 when I bought it a couple months ago.(also from CPP ). Go for it !!

Ray

P.S.- Be advised that you will probably get a "two" piece puller (as I did) & not one piece as shown in their picture. It worked great!!

Chaz, I live to be outside. And I'm out side all day everyday of the year. It rains maybe 3 or 4 days a year. And I hate rain, gets every thing dirty. "I like rocks and dead things" I tell my kids! And they tell me "well, we're sure living in the right place!" Many come here and can't stand the Heat, some leave but most of them come back again, also. Theres just to much to do here!
