Which EZ GO Speed Sensor ?

Hello, I'm a new member to the forum and have what I hope is a couple of simple questions.

I have a 2006 EZ GO TXT - PDS Champ cart that has a "speed issue".
The PDS Diagnostics are reporting Speed Sensor Fault - which seems consistent with the symptoms based on what I've read on the forum in several threads.
The cart starts to go 'fast' and immediately slows down upon acceleration. Then when you run the PDS diagnostics - it reports that Speed Sensor fault.

Interestingly, when you reset the PDS Diagnostic mode (Tow/Run switch flip), it seems to 'reset' the fault. If you re-run the diagnostics without moving the cart - no errors are reported. However, upon acceleration - same thing always occurs.

My questions are:
1. Searching the internet I see two parts.
a. 73327G02 - Speed Sensor - PDS II. says for PDS equipped carts, 2001- current.
b. 73327G04 - Speed Sensor. says fits TXT, MPT, Shuttle and 875 with PDS controller, 2001-current.
Which part do I need? (they both look pretty similar in web pics).

2. how difficult is this Speed Sensor to replace?

Thanks for any assistance/advice.

Re: Which EZ GO Speed Sensor ?

The speed senor is the grey plug on the drivers side of the motor end. The magnet is on the other side of the senor. It's not to hard to get out if you have the right tools.

Here is the senor on the motor. The ring clip is just sitting there. It's suppose to be inside the housing. I took it out so you could see it.

Take the clip out pull the senor out and you see the motor shaft with the magnet attached to it with a torque head screw. If this screw is loose are gone then it's the problem. If the magnet is missing are broke it's the problem.

Thanks. So if I pull the sensor and the magnet looks ok, then its likely to be the sensor cable ? (grey cable in your illustration).

Which of the two Speed Sensor cables I saw on the internet would apply for my cart 2006 EZ GO TXT PDS?

Is a PDS II different than a PDS?

Re: Which EZ GO Speed Sensor ?

I would say this one
a. 73327G02 - Speed Sensor - PDS II. says for PDS equipped carts, 2001- current.

The other one sounds as if it for a strech cart. More than likely it would work it would have a longer pigtail than the other one.
:help::thumbup:

This one should work.

I just put on a brand new motor but forgot the magnate .The old motor was burned up so bad I didn't even know it needed a magnate I just put the speed sensor in and thought I was done then the cart would only go about 5 or 6 MPH

Re: Which EZ GO Speed Sensor ?

I wish I would have posted pictures of the old motor Because the guy I bought the cart from said all it needs is a new controller and that the motor was fine so I let my golf cart shop try to rebuild it the we're amazed that the cart move at on then said it could not be rebuild. One part of three windings were broken and the magnate was in little pieces
