Winter project prep

I recently acquired a 88 EZGO marathon for free, didn't have motor or steering column. Seeing I already have an electric TXT I use for golf, this is perfect opportunity for a ground up diesel build to commute to work, though it will be a project for wintertime. Ill have to replace the rear axle because the shaft comes out perpendicular to the axle unless anyone's used a 90 degree gearbox to counteract this. My main questions are where can I find a cheap 2 cylinder yanmar or kubota, I'm in northern WI so not a lot of cities around. The second one is I would like to keep the start-stop with the gas pedal, is that possible with a diesel or am I better off to just electric start.

Re: Winter project prep

I thought about the pedal start also. Theoretically it could work. But I opted to put a key start on as I get cold winter's in pa and would need to glow plug it. I got a 2 cylinder Kubota z482 out of a solara transicold trailer heater.
