1981 ezgo
 

I have a 1981 Ezgo that I bought used. It ran good when I got it but, now I have no spark from the coil to the plug. I changed some wires that were corroded with new ones. I might have switched some wires accidentally in the process. Could someone give me a refresher course. The positive wire coming from the coil should hook where, and the negative wire should go to the points. Am I anywhere in the ballpark with this?

Positive of the coil should go to the battery positive through the ignition switch (gas pedal switch and negative should go to the points. To check the coil, disconnect the positive wire from the ignition, remove the spark plug, attach the plug wire to the plug and lay the plug body on the head or ground, Open the points with the cam, attach the positive wire on the coil to12 volts (battery) then momentarily short across the points with a screwdriver. The coil should cause the plug to spark. If it does put it all back and attach the positive coil wire back to the ignition switch or switched hot Gas pedal switch I think I have it all...Maybe
