Clutch Removal Bolt Tool - KF82

Just a quick question, has anyone ever used the '88 and up clutch removal tool (the bolt) to remove a clutch from an '84-'87 (KF82) motor? I can't find any reason it wouldn't work. I don't want to buy the tool and then have it not work.

I read somewhere that you can run a clutch from an '88 and up cart on an '84-'87 motor as long as you use the original inner pulley from the old setup.

you can make your own puller. just get a thin bolt that goes in the shaft and cut it to the threads and then get a bolt that will screw in against it and it will push it right off. My friend was trying to make one by welding two bolts together when we realized you can use two pieces. Make sure the thin one does not touch the inner threads.

That may work but I would be careful and use a good quality bolt. If your clutch is really stuck and you put to much pressure on the small bolt it could bend and get stuck in the shaft. The tapered bolt has much more strenght. I know I did this a long time ago and had to use a giant slide hammer to remove the clutch and get the bolt out.

Use a ratchet extension. Go look at the other post where you were asking about it. I see no reason why it wouldn't work...

I own one and have used it once and it worked just fine.
