Yamaha G2 Pick-up inside flywheel
I removed the plastic shroud cover above the flywheel while trying fix a exhaust stud problem and dropped a bolt down in the flywheel. When I tried retrieve it I may of disturbed the electrical pick-up that's there. Now I get no spark to the plug. What does this pickup do?

Uh, it triggers the ignition system to make spark at the right moment.

Re: Yamaha G2 Pick-up inside flywheel
I took off the flywheel today. It came off easier then I thought. 24 MM socket did the trick. I then used a crowbar to pry it off the crank shaft. The missing bolt was stuck between the flywheel and engine block. I or the bolt destroyed the timing coil pick up. I replaced it with one from a friend's cart which had a blown motor. The plugin ends were different so I cut the wires and soldered on the one from my coil pickup. It started right up.
