Is there oil in the air box? Yamis take 1 qt, might drain and refill to make shure. Not un common for the oil rings to go bad, you can still have high compression (at 175lbs your golden), but the bad/worn oil rings can make it smoke. Maybe a hone and rering are in order. Good luck on what ever you decide:thumbup:

Yes high oil will blow into airbox and smoke. As posted put one quart in and check the level, that is where full should be don't ever fill higher than that. If oil rings go bad it will keep smoking but typically will have lots of miles on it before that happens. I'd change oil and run it a bit as you may have oil in places that take a little to burn out if it was overfilled....then see what you have. If bad rings the oil will keep going down, otherwise I've never seen one that burned hardly any oil. My g9 started to lose power when hot or hot weather, 2 summers later it started to smoke oil from the rings, though I stopped trail riding it with the power loss issue.
