Low speed rattle

I've got a '99 DS that I've had for about 8 months. I've noticed that it has a metallic sounding rattle at low speed when barely on the throttle. Any ideas on what it could be?

IF... it has a "ding...ding...ding" (almost like a bell), most likely, your drive clutch buttons are worn.

It's not a ding, ding ding. Best way I can think to describe it is that it sounds more like a clatter, kind of like if you threw some small rocks into a tin can and got them spinning around in the can. It does it under load and for a short time after letting off the accelerator.

Check the muffler clamp. It is a worm style clamp, mine was loose.

My 01 does that and it sounds like it's a baffle loose in the muffler.

Aside from the noise, are there any other ways to diagnose a bad clutch? This is my first cart so I'm still learning.

Re: Low speed rattle

From what I can tell, it sounds like it's coming from the driven clutch. I'm not positive which is the driven and which is the drive clutch but the one making noise is the one closest to the front of the motor.

If it's that is what's making the noise, does that seem right? Is that a noise it would make? If so, is replacement the best route?
