Reset the club car OBC
Good morning all,
I've been lurking for about a week now gleaning information from the wealth on knowlege in this group, but now I need to ask a question. How does one go about resetting an OBC? I've heard it referred to several times in different threads. I have some other general troubleshooting questions, but I'll start a new thread for them. Thanks for all of your help so far. |
re: Reset the club car OBC
Copied from the alltraxinc.com website. They have posted a wealth of technical info there ........Let us know if this helps with your problem
Resetting the OBC To reset the OBC the following must be done in this order: • Key Switch to Off • Forward/Reverse to Neutral • Tow/Run Switch to Tow • Disconnect the Battery NEGATIVE (–) wire from the Battery Minus terminal on the battery pack. • Put the Tow/Run to Run • Forward/Reverse Switch to Reverse • Key Switch to On • Lock the throttle pedal down The reverse buzzer will sound and go off in about 30 seconds. Leave the cart like that for 5 min to cause the OBC to reset. To reconnect the OBC back into the system: • Key Switch to Off • Forward/Reverse Switch to Neutral • Tow/Run switch to Tow • Reconnect the Batt – wire to the battery minus terminal on the battery pack. Once the OBC has been reset, the cart can be troubleshot. There is always a chance the OBC has completely failed and the reset process will not fix the problem. Consult your Club Car manuals or contact Alltrax for more troubleshooting of vehicles with an OBC. |
re: Reset the club car OBC
Thanks for your quick response, ScottyB.
I went to the site you recommended and found a schematic for the entire electrical system. The wiring diagram I have was great for making sure that all of the wires are accounted for, but did not help much with actual hook-up. I immediately printed the reset instructions and headed out to try it when I noticed that the tow-run switch is involved. What if I don't have one? It's not that it's missing...there isn't even a hole where there should have been one. I think that I'm one of those special cases. |
re: Reset the club car OBC
On earlier model I would just ignore reference to run/tow switch if you don't have one

re: Reset the club car OBC
The black wire coming out of charge recepticle has a yellow fuse holder, open it up and connect a jumper from the end coming out of recepticle the the negative on Battery 6 or the last one in series. Plug in the charger if it comes on your OBC is most likely TOAST.

re: Reset the club car OBC
Check Battery pack voltage before assuming OBC is toast .

re: Reset the club car OBC
The charger does cone on when the control line is grounded. The OBC is toast the motor is reading 2.8Meg across the A winding (toast), and the controller won't kick on the other solenoid (probable toast). I know when to cut my losses. It's time to sell it for parts. Thanks for the help. I'll be back soon with another one. Hopefully one that just needs tweaks and flair, not CPR.

re: Reset the club car OBC
Also...battery pack voltage is 53V and individual batteries are within .5V of each other.
