212 rebuild begins!

I am getting ready to rebuild my 212 SN#159055 from the ground up. I was given this cart a few years ago and have used it in and off as a hunting buggy and something to run the kids around the neighborhood in. It has been a good cart but the old tech is far from ideal. I plan to convert to solid state speed control, upgrade motor through Plum Quick, and eventually do a 48 volt upgrade. I want to lift it up a hair and put a little bigger rubber on. This will be a long process because I am a noob to electric carts and plus I will only be able to spring a little cash at a time out of the vault (a.k.a. wife). I will be leaning on many of you for info to get me through this so thanks in advance.

That is a step in the right direction...... lead acid batteries loose 1% of their charge per day... In 3-4 weeks they will need recharging for sure.
Now ... take what little $ you have and buy her candy and flowers
That should help

Man, there are alot of screws and bolts holding the sheet metal down on this thing. I have been working at it for a few hours now and only have the back half off.

I got it almost completely stripped. Getting ready to lift the rear. There is no where near as much corrosion as I expected. Just some surface rust. It is moving right along with no issues so far. I am amassing quite a pile of parts as you can see.
