I have 2000 ezgo 6 seater shuttle cart

It barely goes I bought brand new batteries thinking it was a battery issue

Same speed

The first thing is to measure the V of each battery. Even though they are new, you may have a charger that isn't fully charging the batteries.

Is the low speed something new? Is the cart new to you and always doing this or was the cart quick before and something happened and now it's slow? Or was it quick 2 years ago and has slowly been deteriorating? Also, how slow are we talking?

What are the other details of the cart? Stock controller/stock wheels? Is it 48V or 72V or something else? Stock diff gears/motor/battery cables, etc.

Another easy culprit to spot is a possible bad battery cable. That test is to take the cart (if it's capable) for a ride with the pedal to the floor for a bit, then lift the seat and see if any cable is hot at any position. Cables often go bad near the terminals and will restrict the flow of electrons and heat up. If this it true you may see something like an 8 degree heat up on other terminals and a 50 degree increase on the bad cable. If this is the case replace all the high current cables. These connect the batteries, the controller and the ones that go to the motor.

Be a little cautious grabbing the cables. Sometimes they can have corrosion build up or a bad cable and it can get so hot it melts the lead battery post.

The cart is 48v everything is stock as far as I know. The cart is new to me


Batteries were 8.1 8.2 8.2 8.1 8.3 8.1

No cables got hot.


I did see where to unhook the orange wire going to the f/r switch which it ran faster but run time not very long

I think the orange wire is an issue and the batteries not fully charging my charger appears to be working but maybe it isn't

What is make/model of batteries?

Put the batteries on charge overnight and measure the voltage about 12 hours after charger shuts off to get a SoC estimate. Attached is a SoC chart for Trojan brand batteries, other brands can be different.

The orange wire puts the controller into half speed mode. The orange wire should only have voltage on it when F/R selector is in R.

The published speed for a 2000 Shuttle-6 is 12 MPH. How fast does your shuttle go?

I think batteries are charging it will full speed for maybe .5 miles then start going slow

So the first, fourth and sixth batteries are dead (50% is dead for lead acid).
The second, and third are at 60%, so nearly dead.
Then you have one at about 80%.

We really need you to fully charge the batteries and then unplug the charger and let it sit like Johnnie said.
Then you need to measure each battery and report the voltages back to two digits past the decimal, like 8.00v is very different than 8.09v. Your cart's behavior appears to be bad batteries.

Batteries are brand new

Pretty sure I determine the issue it's the F/R switch due to the fact if I push it hard in forward and hold it it runs perfect

You've also got some batteries not being fully charged issues.

For a heavy cart like you have, it would be best to replace the mechanical F/R switch assembly with a reversing contactor (SW202 version) and 2Ga cables throughout.

I had my volt
Meter wrong setting

Batteries were all 8.4 plus

But the new forward reverse did not fix the issue
