Throttle pedal travel

looking for what is normal? On my cart when you barely touch the pedal it start moving and by the time you reach about half travel the cart is wide open which is 15mph. The last half of the travel has no effect. I looked at the V block ( I guess that is the right term) and the arm has the same range of motion as the pedal with no loose play. So what is that telling me? Is the controller seeing a wide open throttle signal at half throttle? According to the wiring diagram there are four wires running between the v block and the controller. I assume each wire represents a different contact point that indicates a change in throttle position but I would have thought it would be more consistent through the full range.

Re: Throttle pedal travel

The V-Glide is not the best throttle position indicator device due to the 4 blocks of signal you referred to as opposed to a real potentiometer which has a smooth signal transition from 0-5000.... Some aftermarket controllers have adjustable ramp rates, which can help...

Do you have any idea why I am not seeing any change with the last half of throttle input.

Control is already WOT at half ???
Use an ohm meter to test your V glide out put to answer this question.

I can test it. But I guess you answered my question (should it be WO at half throttle). I just find it strange that unless the wiper inside the V block is spring loaded to prevent damage from to travel that it would not reach WO until it went through it's full range of motion. Thanks for the input

Haven't found a good enough wiring diagram to know which two wires too check between. Do know? Should be 0-5K over the full range of motion right?

Just noticed the 2000 CC in your signature if that's the cart you are asking about? signal will be 5k-0 usually at pin #2 & 3 on the controller.

Re: Throttle pedal travel

Thanks Scotty. But #2 at the controller is Orange/wht and ties in a junction in the wiring harness and the only connection I can see with the V-bock is through the Ign. switch. I looks like it goes to a micro switch inside the V-block . Is that one I need to use. Now the #3 Grn/Wht wire goes directly to the V-block??

The V-glide has 5 wires - blue and green/white are to the micro switch. The wiper has purple , yellow and black/white . To test unplug the 3 pin plug to the vglide, attach the neg. probe of a multimeter set to 20k ohms to the purple wire and the pos. probe to the yellow wire. With the accelerator at rest it should read 0 ohms. Press the pedal and resistance should climb to approx. 5k ohms (nominal is 5570 ohms)

Thank Golfdog.. The color of those two wires is what I needed.. Keeps me from taking it off and pulling the covers to see how it was wired. Thank ...I will post the results
