Ezgo cylinder head
 

Hey guys I just ordered a rebuild kit for my 88 ezgo, do y'all think painting the new cylinder head with ceramic engine paint will make it over heat?
I've read that ceramic paint will disperse the heat over a greater area but will the cooling fins still do their job covered with paint???
What do y'all think?

Don't know about the head itself, but the jug is painted anyhow. I wouldn't worry an awful lot about the looks of the head though, with the engine tin on you can't see it.

Mine is pretty exposed, if you look from the clutch side

Ahh,.... Now that I just watched a video on YouTube I see that my motor is missing the sheet metal cawling that covers the head and cylinder block....
I probably need to make one for this don't you think???

I actually just finished redoing my gaskets, and didn't put the shroud back on the engine. Whenever I've taken it off before, there is all sorts of crap trapped underneath it - mainly as I use the cart on a golf course with dusty conditions. Seems to me my engine is betting better ventilated with it off.

the engine needs the shroud to help it run cooler, it will run hotter with out it

I'm pretty good with sheet metal I think I'll make one with some .062 aluminum tomorrow at work...

Rib is right, you need the shroud to keep the flow of air from the fan to keep the engine cooled. Not enough air going over the the engine under your seat so unless you like rebuilding that engine I would make a shroud as close to orig as poss.

Do you need pics and measurements? I can give them to you so you can get one as close to original as possible. :thumbup:
