Plum quick motor, any one run one??

Been looking for a good deal for a while, as my cart has a 2.1 hp special service 36 volt in it and 16 mph is about all it gets. $225 plus core and shipping for the Bandit seams like what I am looking for. figured some one here has run one or has a buddy that has. Thanks for any thought. Rag's

im running a PQ Rattlesnake II . 7.1 HP 10 spline series motor and love it . Good torque and running 32/33 mph. The guys at PQ are great to deal .

I'm running a PQ custom wound motor and couldn't be happier. Great product, great support, great performance!

I am running a PQ executioner shunt motor plus Alltrax DCX 500 controller and getting 31/32 and tons of torque. Like it so far.

Re: Plum quick motor, any one run one??

Executioner on stock controller hitting 30mph on 18.25" tires. Not crazy torque with stock controller, though. Plenty good for flat land hauling A$$! I love it!

Re: Plum quick motor, any one run one??

Yak..If the calculator I am using is right and you have a 12:1 gear in the rear you may need to go to taller tires or gear. PQ told me the the executioner was good to 6K rpms and at 30 you you are turning yours 6620 and if you pick up 2mph on a down hill grade it goes to nearly 7100. If I am doing this wrong someone please chime in!!! With my 22" tires I am at 30 I am at about 5500 and if I pick up 2mph I am just under 6K. If you like your tires and wheels I would look for some 10:1 gears if they make them.

Grizzy II owner checking in.
13ish h.p. torque motor.

My cruising speed is 22 mph or so, but it will climb Everest!

My brother has the bandit. While its a definite upgrade over stock, its rather ho-hum compared to PQ's other offerings.

If you have the coin, get it right the first time.

I have the Bandit and am well pleased with it. Stock controller and getting 26 mph. If I went off road or had hilly terrain (I have it at the beach) I may wish I have gotten a different motor. The Bandit is perfect for my use.

How is it in th sand with that motor? What size cables? This may be a good fit for me. Thanks.

No sand use with my cart. Not allowed on beaches in my area. You would need a higher torque configuration for use in sand. I have 2ga cables, but it performed nearly as well with stock cables.

And judging by your location - you have to the gorgeous WHITE sand - we don't have sand like that here. Ours may get loose but never that thick.

I have the bandit. Very pleased. Went fron 12 to 23 mph. Descent torque. For the money it's a real deal.

Re: Plum quick motor, any one run one??

We dropped one in my buddies stock 95 series DS which was torquey before but after would spin the tires from a stop and picked up almost 4 mph. I have also put them in other carts and have to say they are an improvement over stock any day. Now if you are looking for a big difference you probably need to go larger but they make those too

Thats quite and increase!! What kind of cart do you have? Year and or IQ? Did you put on larger tires to get that increase along with the Bandit?

A call to PQ would reveal these results are not consistent with the product data.
Certainly nobody else should expect 10-11mph gains.

monepit 08-05-2013 03:56 PM

Re: Plum quick motor, any one run one??

It is an 01 series. It had a brand new pack at 12. Plum quick told me the bandit should increase it to 20 to 22. They were right. It did 21 the day I put it in. It has increased to 23 since the pack got broken in.

Actually, if the speed code was 2 before and the Bandit removed that restriction, then those gains are plausible. Kinda depends on the start point.

Maybe if the speed sensor was poo poo'd and wouldn't the PQ eliminate that? So perhaps this was a fixe to a problem and a general increase in HP/bands of wire? Just my thoughts - I am still learning.

Re: Plum quick motor, any one run one??

Anything is possible but I think what scottyb is saying is don't expect that kind of increase. The "norm" is like 20% better than what you had..

Re: Plum quick motor, any one run one??

I have the Rattle Snake 2 and I'm liking it so far, getting 32-33 mph on flat pavement.... I kinda jumped the gun and was warned about this but with this being a high rpm motor my 26" tires is killing the torque, but it's not as bad as 1 mite think it would be... I still run some aggressive trails that have some big hills and it does great I even have to stay out of the throttle unless Im feeling like slinging a little earth, but where it's lacking is crossing a dry ditch or trying to start from stop on a 4" step up ( a steep short hill) but even the steep hills on trails dont hurt me much as long as I already have the cart rolling when approaching them. Kinda thinking about regearing the rear end

Re: Plum quick motor, any one run one??

What is the Rattlesnake? I do not see it on their website.
Looking upgrade speed on a PQ08 without changing controllers. Trying to hit 26-29mph. The Bandit looks like it might hit 24-25. Can I use this motor with the PQ08?

I had a custom PDS Motor built 6 months ago. Along with the alktrax controller, it has tons of torque and speeds over 30. They were great to me.

Just put my new batterys in and motor. When I put the cart in forward it goes in reverse when I put the cart in reverse it foes forward. This seems like I switched two wires...but which ones is the problem.

Sounds like the 2 little wires(Blue/Orange) are swapped. Flip them back.

Re: Plum quick motor, any one run one??

When you ship the motors to PQ how do you guys pack to prevent motor stuff from banging around inside the casing. Seems like since is pulled the motor of my cart the case slips on and off easily and the armature just shakes inside it and is very loose.

I did mine spline up pack newspaper around motor to the top, then cut cardboard squares with a hole in it for the spline to stay centered
