36 volt motor replacement needed!
 

Ok I have a 36 volt resister cart - club car. I lifted it last year and put 22 inch tires on it. I only use it to run around the farm during hunting season however the motor is getting hot, obviuosly due to working it too hard. My question is, if I buy the beast motor (High torque motor) will it work with a resistor cart? Don't care about speed at all, just want a motor that won't get hot and ruin itself. I've already upgraded all the wiring is there anything else I would need to upgrade since I don't have a controller, didn't know if the silinoids or F N R switch need upgraded also?

I'm definately NOT the one to answer this, but I am basically doing the same thing. Based on what I have read, you will need to loose the resistors and go to a controller if you are going to upgrade to the Beast. If you will search here there is a lot of info on going from resistors to a controller. Maybe someone else who actually knows something will chime in and give you some help.

There are several companies out there which will customize your motor for you !
One which comes to mind is Plum Quick give them a call
and see what they will charge to customize yours for torque (not speed).

If they can customize your existing motor then you should not have to change anything else out -$$$:thumbup:

Plan on talking with Quick plum and EMP today. I'm deffinately not changing this over to a controller cart. Already checked prices, I can take the extras off, sell the cart as stock, and buy a controller cart cheaper than the upgrade.

True......EMP can rewind your motor for more torque which should help with the heat problem . But if you are using this cart for slow speed creeping you will always have heat problems due to the nature of amp wasting resistor coils.

my heat problems today usually start when climbing hills to get around the farm. Once I'm on flat ground and going everything seems to work fine. I'm looking into EMP's 2 speed system to help keep things cooler when getting up the hills. If I have to replace a coil here and there that's better than a motor!!!

A single speed rewinding of your motor, rewound "for torque" would be the least expensive solution. You only need 2 spd. if you want torque AND speed.

I was assuming if the motor was rewound for Torque I would loose some of my current speed. Cart currently runs about 14 MPH and I would like to keep that on flat ground.
