Vegas Carts 625cc to a 87 G2

After reading posts and looking for a project. I settled on this combo.
I chose the engine for a few reasons. This engine may only be rated to 23 hp, but cc's means torque. With “CVT” style transmissions the torque will show through. The 625 comes with a starter and generator built in. It has an oil pump and filter, and a rpm Electronic Governor set to around 4000 rpm, I believe the engine has a red line around 5000 rpm.

With these plans I set out to find my cart.

In a community like Sun City West the 'carts' are very popular so good deals are few. I was able to locate a 1987 'single' owner Yamaha G2 for around $1400 in good running condition. I am in Arizona so no rust.

The cart purchase was on Friday 24. Tear down on Monday and Tuesday this week and a trip to Vegas Carts yesterday.

My trip to Vegas Carts was worth the time. I was able to see they have all of the machining equipment needed to produce their kit parts. They also have about a dozen golf carts of the most popular models. I was met by Aaron who provided the tour. He pulled out a cart that was a 87 g2 with the 625 installed and asked if I would like to 'Take it for a spin'. His building was in a industrial complex so I was able to take a good test drive. All I can say was what a difference to the way my G2 drove. You could really feel the torque.
I purchased the complete engine kit plus the rear clutch. Loaded up the car for the long drive home.

Sorry I don't have photos. I decided to post after I got home. I will try to get photos when I reassemble.

You didn't get any factory pictures on your tour? Would love to see the production floor.

Sounds like fun! The pics on their facebook page suggest they need a larger place they have so much equipment in there.
