1995 club car carryall- gas
Hello all.
i recently replaced my bad starter/generator (was eating brushes) with a new one I bought online. Installation was pretty straightforward. My issue now is after running the cart for a few minutes, the cart is burning the brake lines! as in the plastic coating on them, and forcing the brakes locked. What could be causing this problem, and how can i test further? My thoughts are that the new s/g is bad, or maybe i need a new solenoid or something. With the replacement s/g cart starts and runs fine except for this burning brake line. How can i test the s/g or troubleshoot further? Any thoughts? has anyone seen this issue before? Thanks |

Welcome to BGW
you have a bad ground somewhere and the brake are acting as the ground. The ground from the battery to the motor? ground from battery to frame?, ground from starter/gen to the battery? make sure all grounds are clean to the metal on all connections |

Your engine cradle is not grounded. Also check your voltage regulator to make sure it's not going over 16 volts. This will eat brushes.

:D that was my first thought too. I've already (pre-posting) gone thru and cleaned all grounds to bare metal. I will go thru them all again, but assuming its not the grounds what else could be causing this? |
