Speed encoder magnet purchase. Newbie

I'm brand new to the forum. We have three of the ParCar Summits, 5/2013. First of all thank you for helping me diagnois our issue. Your answers to a post from Dave292t, dated 10-22-2012 had all the information I needed to determine that the magnet for the speed encoder was our problem, i.e. the magnet had shattered. So the question now is where am I able to purchase parts, specificly the magnets? While swapping out parts with a second cart I noticed that the magnet there has a hairline crack, so I will need to purchase 2.

Thanks for your assistance.

The Columbia ParCar # is 74884-04. Has a list price of $99.24. Any Columbia dealer can order, so depending on your location you can take that number in and order it. They are in stock back at the factory.

The other option, if you have someone with a Sevcon handset is to turn off the speed probe, so the controller doesn't look for it. You speeds would be normal again then.

I went back and read the earlier post with the clubcar. Different setup. If the speed sensor goes bad on a Columbia, the unit will still drive, but speeds are then changed.

Normally, on a working standard unit, the speed is set at 100% forward speed and 30% reverse speed. This is a percentage of the capabilities.

If a unit has a speed encoder and it goes bad, then unit will safety fault to 50% of maximum speed. That means that not only is forward at 50%, but now reverse is too, so your forward and reverse are the same speed. This is the easiest diagnoses.

The unit can be programmed to estimate speeds from the controller by turning off the speed probe. Then your speeds would be back at 100% and 30% roughly.

Thanks. Are you saying to get the magnet I need to order the complete sensor?
