Proper serial cable for Windows 7/Alltrax DCX
I'm posting here for the first time. I installed an Alltrax DCX controller into a 2007 CC Precedent (48 volt). I wanted to check the programming because I now have a similar problem to one I've seen posted several times - no throttle response until the pedal gets pretty far down, then the cart jerks into motion. (HD solenoid and battery wires have also been added). My problem is getting the Controller Pro program to recognize the controller. The serial/USB cable came from Sabrent, with the drivers included. The drivers won't load and I can't check the controller programming. Can anyone tell me for sure which cable and driver will work with Windows 7? I'm hoping my throttle problem is in the programming. There were no MCOR issues prior to installation.

I see software at this site http://www.alltraxinc.com/Products_ControllerPro.html

I had to use a Vista driver for my Win7 machine with the Radio Shack cable since there wasn't a Win7 Driver available.

Re: Proper serial cable for Windows 7/Alltrax DCX
I just put a DCX 500 on my Precident and experienced the exact throttle problem, I went into program and it was set on custom, I tried all the other throttle curves and selected the smoothest, I think it was the inverted curve, cannot remember. It still has a little pedal travel and if you do not give it enough throttle it is a little jerky but way smoother than before I reprogrammed it. It is really smooth once I have gotten used to it.
Download software at Alltrax. My cable was a radioshack DB9 on one end and USB on the other. Plug into controller port and computer, turn key on and then open Alltrax program and it should recognize the controller. http://www.alltraxinc.com/Products_ControllerPro.html |
Re: Proper serial cable for Windows 7/Alltrax DCX
Thanks for all of the advice. I got the 9-pin serial to USB cable from Cables To Go (now C2G) overnight. I downloaded the driver from their website, and today finally got to communicate with the Alltrax DCX 500. The previous cable and Prolifix driver just were not cutting it. I was able to change some of the throttle settings, mostly away from "custom" as it was set before to "linear". The throttle is much smoother, but it's now time to do some studying as to what is the best setting, how they relate to each other, etc. At least I'm back on the sporting clays course. Thanks again to all.

Re: Proper serial cable for Windows 7/Alltrax DCX
2 things that have helped me are:
1 = crawl under the cart with channel locks and tighten up (squeeze) the throttle linkage connection at the MCOR shaft... and lower the throttle up rate..... from say 4 to 3.(pg 1) |
Re: Proper serial cable for Windows 7/Alltrax DCX
Steve from Alltrax also emailed me a custom throttle setting in the form of a hex file, which I uploaded. That helped, too. Are there photos anywhere to show what you describe with the throttle connector, Scottyb?
