surging problem
i recently swapped out the motor in my ez go golf cart and since then while riding i feel it sort of surging on the top end. it was a used motor. does that problem sound like the motor or sme other component? any ideas??

Re: surging problem
An electric motor is doing this?
|
Re: surging problem
yes but it wasnt doing it in te other cart i took the motor out of. once it gets to top speed it, for lack of another term, surges. does it have some sort of high low switch? any ideas are appreciated

Re: surging problem
No it doesn't have a high/low switch...sounds almost like a pot box issue.

Re: surging problem
what is a pot box? what does it do?
|
Re: surging problem
and how should i diagnose it?
|
Re: surging problem
A pot box is the throttle...it is sorts like or variable resistor. E-z-go's throttle runs from 0 ohm (0% throttle) to 5k ohm (100% throttle) You will have to get a volt/ohm meter to check it.

Re: surging problem
well it is a 94 model. where would the pot box be located? i have an ohm meter.

Re: surging problem
Follow the accelerator linkage under the cart. When you press the gas, you are moving the potentiometer.

Re: surging problem
i think i found it. if its the box bhind the switch. yes the one the linkage is hooked to. well i have a three wheel model the same year as this one so i will try swapping them
