Charged my battery backwords :(

So on my 2002 Ezgo Gas... when in my machine shed.... the battery was weak and would not turn over my cart. It was kind of dark in there and I hooked up the battery charger backwords and now it is 12 volts on the negative. So after i got it charged, i couldn't get it started. no spark. tried the coil on my buddies cart and it worked fine. i had .156 volts ac coming out of the pulser. Bought a new igniter thinking it went bad. I had used a test light to find out if i had just to the coil, and of coarse it lit up. Now trying a volt meter to troubleshoot, i noticed -12 volts at the coil, that is when i realized i charged the battery backwords. I changed the battery leads and now i get 1 spark on the first revolution, then no more. Did i fry the new igniter? Or is it something else?
Thanks,
Allen

But do you think it would damage my Ingniter?
I just get 1 spark when I turn it over, then nothing.
I will pick up a new battery tonight and test again.

Re: Charged my battery backwords :(

Put a new battery in and i only get 1 spark when it starts to crank over. A guy at a different place said it was a bad voltage regulator, put a new one on and still only 1 spark. Do you think i fried the new ingniter i put in with the battery charged backwords?
Also how many volts AC should the Pulser produce when cranking the engine over? Mine does .155 volts AC.
Thanks for any help.

Re: Charged my battery backwords :(

The trigger should be good. Separate circuit.

Take a voltmeter and verify that you have continuous power over 9 volts at the coil when cranking it over. Also check for power to the cdi ignition module.
Make sure all the wires are plugged in and no extra fuses are in there. ohm them out.
Double check your grounds.
Ohm out the coil as the repair manual states and make sure it is within specs.

If all that checks out and you have ac from the pulser then the last part is the igniter.
The symptoms point to it being bad but always check all the other components first.

Have you tried the first igniter?

I will try the original igniter at noon today and let you know.
Thanks for the reply. I did try my coil on my nephews cart and have good spark from it on his machine. His is an 05, so different igniter.

Tried the original one and no spark. The new one gives me 1 spark. Do you think I damaged the new ingiter when I had the batter hooked up backwards.
Thanks

Re: Charged my battery backwords :(

You might have a wiring issue.
You should get one spark even with a dead unit unless its really really fried.
Every time you turn the power on (crank it) then off the coil is charged then discharged and it sparks.

Re: Charged my battery backwords :(

So i tested my original Ignitor on my Nephews cart and it works like a champ.
I will have to pull the wire harness to the coil and check it out. not sure where else to look. The pulser is putting out the same voltage as his. i tested my coil on his and it is ok.
Confused....
